چکیده
We consider a multidimensional model for the dynamic combustion of compressible reacting fluids formulated by the Navier Stokes equations in Euler coordinates. For the chemical model we consider a one way irreversible chemical reaction governed by the Arrhenius kinetics. The existence of globally defined weak solutions of the Navier-Stokes equations for compressible reacting fluids is established by using weak convergence methods, compactness and interpolation arguments in the spirit of Feireisl et al. [15], [16], [17], [18] and P.L. Lions [22].

On a Multidimensional Model for the Combustion of Compressible Fluids
We consider a multidimensional model for the combustion of compressible reacting fluids. The flow is governed by the Navier-Stokes in Eulerian coordinates and the chemical reaction is irreversible and is governed by the Arrhenius kinetics. The existence of globally defined weak solutions is established by using weak convergence methods, compactness and interpolation arguments in the spirit of F...
متن کاملLES/FMDF of premixed methane/air flow in a backward-facing step combustor
In the present study, a hybrid Eulerian-Lagrangian methodology is utilized for large eddy simulation (LES) of premixed fuel/air flow over a three-dimensional backward facing step (BFS). The fluid dynamic features are obtained by solving the Eulerian filtered compressible transport equations while the species are predicted by using the filtered mass density function method (FMDF). Some scalar f...
متن کاملGlobal Solutions to a Model for Exothermically Reacting, Compressible Flows with Large Discontinuous Initial Data
We prove the global existence of solutions of the Navier-Stokes equations describing the dynamic combustion of a compressible, exothermically reacting fluid, and we study the large-time behavior of solutions, giving necessary and sufficient conditions for complete combustion in certain cases. The adiabatic constants and specific heats of the burned (product) and unburned (reactant) fluids may d...
متن کاملToward Large-eddy/reynolds-averaged Simulation of Supersonic Combustion
While flamelet-based progress variable models have matured to production-level in recent years for incompressible flows, little development toward compressible formulations of the flamelet model has ensued. For supersonic and hypersonic flows exhibiting combustion, an applicable flamelet-based combustion model must reflect the compressible nature of the flow, the tight coupling of the flow and ...
متن کاملSimulation of Premixed Combustion Flow around Circular Cylinder using Hybrid Random Vortex
This research describes the unsteady two-dimensional reacting flows around a circular cylinder. The numerical solution combines the random vortex method for incompressible two-dimensional viscous fluid flow with a Simple Line Interface Calculation (SLIC) algorithm for the propagation of flame interface. To simplify the governing equations, two fundamental assumptions namely Low Mach Number and ...
